6 Minute Challenge

In todays lesson we did the 6 minute challenge with our group. In this challenge we had to pick 3 random factors, a location, a prop and a film name. We picked the location and props out of a bag while we got the random name from the random article generator on Wikipedia.

The location we got was: supermarket car park
The object was: glasses in a glasses case
The film name we got was: Bangola department

How easy was it to come up with an idea?
We found it challenging to come up with an idea. We wanted to make up an idea based on the film name. To get our film name we had to go on wikipedia and select random article and the name of the article had to be the name of our film. We had three tries if we didn't like the name. The names we got were odd and was hard to work with. With our teachers permission we were allowed to click on the random article tab one more time and we got the title 'The Bongolo Department'. This is a very strange name but since it had the word 'department' in the same we thought it could be a secret organisation that are corrupt.

How easy was it to decide on how to open the film?

We had an idea based on the storyline we came up with but it we did struggle a bit. We ended up with two undercover agents from this secret organisation called 'The Bongolo Department' meet at a supermarket car park and make an exchange. The glasses could signify that one of the characters is going into deep undercover and is going into his role.

How successful do you think your ideas were?
I think that we came up with an interesting plan with a good plot. The film title 'The Bongolo Department' is strange and usual which gives this film and unique and interesting look. We have develop a good storyline and used a storyboard to develop the shots we will be using.

Would I use the 6 minute challenge idea for my coursework?
Yes i would use this idea for my coursework but with a few adjustments. I think we have a unusual tittle name which is different and gives us that unique edge. Also i believe that we have a good storyline and the opening is doable for a college student film.
